The buying process in Montenegro is quite straight forward.  There are no restrictions to foreigners owning apartments and houses in their own name.  To buy land, foreigners must register a locally incorporated company.

The land registry system is up to date and the ownership of individual plots or buildings is clearly defined.  Montenegro was spared fighting on its soil during the 90’s conflict and hence there has not been the large influx and exodus of refugees that can make checking title difficult in other parts of the former Yugoslavia.

Any buyer should use their own lawyer to help them complete a property purchase in Montenegro.  Pluto Developments would be happy to recommend a choice of English speaking lawyers.

The currency of Montenegro is the Euro, which makes it easy to transfer money for buying apartments from Ireland and continental Europe.  If you are transferring money from the UK, or another country outside of the Euro zone, we recommend you use currency broker Foreign Currency Direct with whom we have negotiated a special discount for Pluto Developments customers.  Ask to speak to Tom Holian, on 0800 328 5884, quoting reference “RA-PLUTO-TEH”

When buying a Pluto Developments apartment, buyers have the choice of paying in either Montenegro or the UK (our Euro bank account in the UK is with the Royal Bank of Scotland)
